I graduated from Texas Tech University Law School with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence with High Honors in 1977 and was licensed to practice law in Texas that same year. I have specialized in personal injury and wrongful death litigation for virtually all of my 35 years of practice, having been board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 1982, board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in 1986 and board certified in Civil Pretrial Practice Advocacy by the National Board of Civil Pretrial Practice Advocacy in 2012. In 1996, I received the AV Preeminent Rating for the highest peer review rating in legal ability and ethical standards and have maintained that rating to the present. I was voted in with the rank of Advocate by the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 1998. I am a Senior Counsel member of the College of Master Advocates and Barristers and a member of the Trial Lawyer Honorary Society of the Litigation Council of America. I have been named one of Texas’ Super Lawyers® for 10 consecutive years (2003 - 2012, inclusive), am a member of both the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association. I am a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a member of the American Association for Justice (formerly American Trial Lawyers Association), the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and both the Texas and American Bar Associations. I served on the District 5 Grievance Committee between 2006 and 2011.
